Cross Community Connect has been conducting Female Leadership Workshops in the Kigoma and Mwanza regions of Tanzania since 2009. Our workshops integrate both young women and young men in the discussion of women’s rights issues in the Tanzanian society context. We include in these workshops debates on topics such as bride price, exercises that uncover attitudes toward women in leadership positions and the potential for Tanzanian society when women have more leadership opportunities, knowledge about the rights of women in Tanzania (including land and marital rights), and community talks with elders engaged in this topic.
